David Noyes, CTA
Adventure Travel Specialist

A graduate of RIT and Harvard University, David has enjoyed an award-winning twenty-year career in photography, marketing, advertising, and publishing.

David began his career as a commercial photographer as a student in the Professional Photography program at Rochester Institute of Technology, were he graduated in 1985 with the degree of Bachelor of Science. After graduation, David worked in Buffalo, NY before moving to Boston, MA to start his own studio.

In 1986, David founded Noyes Studios in Boston, MA and quickly established himself as a corporate and advertising photographer for hundreds of corporations and ad agencies. The business was founded as a commercial photography studio specializing in large format still-life and product illustration.

While working as a free-lance photographer in Boston, David furthered his photographic education at Harvard University, where he graduated in 1993 with the degree of Master of Liberal Arts. At Harvard, David concentrated his studies on nineteenth-century photographic history. His thesis, titled “The Right to be An Artist,” was a critical re-evaluation of the Pictorial Photography Movement from 1889–1910.

Shortly after relocating to Kentucky in 1993, David expanded his photography studio into a full-service ad agency/design firm to help small and mid-size corporations with media and strategic planning, concept development, brand development, public relations, and production of: national trade and consumer print advertising, annual reports, press kits, and collateral marketing materials.

From 2002-2005, David art-directed and edited Experience Outdoors — an award winning outdoor recreational travel magazine with a regional circulation of 30 thousand. His "The Land Between the Lakes" issue won top honors in the "Destination Travel - Domestic Magazine" category of the 2003 NATJA international awards competition and two of David's cover feature stories received NATJA top honors in 2004. His editorial contributions also include Black Enterprise Magazine, Car and Driver, Motor Trend, Rod & Custom, Tobacconist, and Lifestyle + Travel.

In 2005 and 2006 David was invited to join photographers from around the world to participate in photographic events in Tibet and Xinjiang China. The projects were sponsored by the Chinese Photographers Association and the PRC State Council Information Office. David's images were showcased in a traveling exhibition and catalog. David also sat on the Marketing & Communications Committee for the United Way of Southern Kentucky for eight years and was an adjunct faculty member at Austin Peay State University, where he taught Editorial & Advertising Photography for Print Media in 1994–1995. David is a member of ASMP (American Society of Media Photographers), the NATJA (North American Travel Journalist Association), OIA (Outdoor Industry Association), and ATTA (Adventure Travel Trade Association).
